Private Landscape

80 x 60 cm, recycled privacy filters, laser-cut recycled acrylate

For this work, Nuyten studied with a stained glass maker to rethink this traditional craft for the future. Private Landscape envisions what stained glass might become as we navigate presence and privacy in an increasingly interconnected world. The work draws on the centuries-old tradition of stained glass - once a way to soften light and create sacred, private spaces - while reflecting on privacy filters as its modern counterpart.

Today’s screens have become the new windows, and privacy filters are only partially concealing them. They may block a neighbor’s view, yet behind the surface, data continues to flow into the digital swarm, exposing the limits of privacy in a digital age.
